Over
more than 65 years, L.P. Royer Inc. has built a strong
reputation as a designer
and manufacturer of quality work
shoes and specialized safety footwear.
In 1934, in Lac-Drolet*, Louis-Philippe
Royer, a cobbler by trade, made his first original-design
boots in his small shop. The increased demand
for the product led to the growth of the business
by adding a tannery in 1942 to alleviate problems
with the supply of quality leather.
In 1965, Henri Royer, the son of Louis-Philippe
Royer, took the reins of a company in full expansion.
He improved the company's operations and products
to become more competitive and attain a better
market position. Having developed a type of leather
that allows vulcanization, he expanded the process
to the total production in 1974.
Concerned with constant improvements to the quality
of its products, the company started providing expert
advice to its customers and partners in order to manufacture
products that meet the specific needs of the various
trades.
In 1986, following the Royer family's dynamic
tradition for innovation, Yves Royer, grandson of
Louis-Philippe Royer, assumed leadership of the business.
Counting on the quality of the company's human resources
and the expertise of all members of the team, Yves
Royer has continued expanding the business to better
meet the challenges of market
globalization. With this in mind, the company
has chosen to invest in developing more specialized
new products, even better adapted to the needs of
industrial workers who face a higher risk of foot
injury.
In 1997, in order to achieve a better performance in world markets, the company took a new approach by integrating the value-added concept to its production. And in October 1998, L.P. Royer Inc. committed itself to implementing the ISO
9001 quality system, and received its certification
in July 1999. L.P. Royer Inc. has established its
position as a safety specialist primarily on the quality
of its products, on its expert
advice program and the quality of its customer relations, to become a World Class company.
In 2003, in order to consolidate its position of leader in manufacturing safety footwear with rubber vulcanized sole, the company has invested in a new moulding technology for rubber sole in dual density trademark XPAN®. L.P. Royer Inc. is the only company in North America and one of the very few worldwide to have this advanced technology.
